How it works

Connect in one click

Open Account Settings → Connectors, click Connect, sign in at the provider. The card flips to Connected when authorisation completes.

Control what's active

Open the connector picker in the composer and tick which sources should be active for that chat. Fewer sources means faster, more focused answers.

Private by design

OAuth tokens never live in Bower. Searches respect provider permissions. Read-only by default.

Connect your ORCID iD

Save your ORCID iD in Settings → Profile → Research identity and Bower Co-scientist will pull from your publication list automatically. We only ever read your public profile.

Frequently asked questions

What is federated search?
Bower Co-scientist searches your connected sources in real time when you ask a question. Results are surfaced in the answer but nothing is saved to your Bower workspace unless you explicitly save it.
Are my credentials stored in Bower?
No. Bower never sees your password. OAuth tokens are held by the provider, not Bower. Disconnecting revokes access immediately.
Can I control which sources Bower Co-scientist uses in a specific chat?
Yes. Open the connector picker in the composer and select which sources are active for that conversation. You can also toggle off all external sources using the Public sources switch.
What happens if I disconnect a tool?
Access is revoked immediately. Bower Co-scientist will no longer query that source in future conversations.
Can my teammates see my connected tools?
No. Connectors are per user, per workspace. A colleague's connections are not visible from your account.
Are connectors available on all plans?
Check the pricing page for connector availability by plan. Restricted-mode workspaces cannot use connectors yet.

Don't see a tool you rely on?

We're adding connectors regularly. Send us your request and we'll prioritize it.
