For research groups and universities

Research that reproduces.

A structured, searchable record of every experiment, and guidance at the bench for the student running it for the first time.

The problem

Every lab loses its best work at graduation.

A research group’s knowledge lives in notebooks, folders and the people who are about to leave. The next student starts from the paper, not from the practice.

  • Notes written at midnight, or not at all

Observations are reconstructed hours later, when the detail that mattered is already gone.

  • Protocols followed blind

The supervisor’s thresholds live in their head, so drift is noticed in the data months later.

  • Results that cannot be reproduced

The attempt that worked and the one that did not look identical on paper.

  • Knowledge that leaves with the PhD

Four years of method and judgment walk out the door with a thesis and a handshake.

How Bower works in a research group

Capture in flow. Find it later.

01 / Capture

Build the record while the experiment runs.

Voice, image and video capture from a phone or the glasses, transcribed and structured in real time. No typing mid-flow, no rewriting notes at the end of the day.

What changes

Every run keeps its full context automatically, with the original media preserved beside the structured record.

Built for

  • Bench work
  • Field work
  • Thesis records

02 / Guidance

Give every student the supervisor’s notes.

Encode a protocol once and every run gets step-by-step support, alerts when parameters are missing and flags when conditions drift, in the moment rather than in the data months later.

What changes

New students work independently at the bench from the first week, and errors are caught before they reach the results.

Built for

  • New students
  • Shared equipment
  • Complex protocols

03 / Record

Ask your research memory a question.

Search across the group’s full history in plain language: which buffer, which batch, which run. Results carry their provenance, so a figure can be traced back to the day it was made.

What changes

The difference between the attempt that worked and the one that did not is a question away, for anyone in the group.

Built for

  • Reproducibility
  • Thesis writing
  • Handover between students

Outcomes

What changes for a research group

  • Reproducible results

The full context of every run, kept automatically.

    Measure: Runs reproduced first time

  • Faster starts for new students

Guidance at the bench from the first week, not the first year.

Measure: Time to first independent run

  • Less time on documentation

Notes captured in flow rather than reconstructed later.

    Measure: Hours returned per week

  • Knowledge that outlasts the PhD

Methods and judgment stay with the lab when people move on.

    Measure: Methods handed over intact

Doing a PhD? Build the record as you research.

Join the Bower PhD program.
Use Bower in your normal lab or field work, meet our team for a short feedback session each week, and get paid for each week you complete. What you tell us shapes what we build for researchers.

FAQ

Questions from research groups

Is there a plan for individual researchers?
Yes. Individual researchers can start on their own with the Bower Individual plan, which begins with a free trial, and a research group can move to a shared workspace when it is ready.
What is the PhD program?
A paid research program for a small group of PhD candidates whose work involves lab work or fieldwork. Participants use Bower in their normal research for about five weeks and join one 30-minute feedback session each week. See the PhD program for who can apply and when the next cohort opens.
Who owns the data?
Your institution and your group own everything captured. It is never used to train shared models, and structuring happens within your own tenant under your access controls.
